Radio navigation is the name of the game when you are flying a DC-9. Radio navigation, like all new things in life, can be difficult to understand at first. But once you have mastered it, it becomes second nature and you will have a much better mental picture of where you are, where you are going, and how to get there.

FlightXPress magazine has written a review comparing three of the MD-80 aircraft available on the market today. FlightXPress writes a detailed report comparing the strengths and weaknesses of the CoolSky Super 80 with the two other products. The review is 8 pages long and only available in full in the printed magazine (German language).

"Verdict? Outstanding. Welcome back Espen, we would like to see more of this quality of work from you. There are so many planes from this era that flight simulation developers have forgotten and which would be serious fun were they released with versions of the training center included. I have banged the drum for a high quality payware Constellation in the past, but there are so many other possibilities, starting with a 'Freight Dog' version of the Fokker 50 that Espen cut his teeth on as freeware so long ago. Just go out and buy the Super 80 - I can't think of a better investment to make to while away the months until FSX arrives and when it does, you might just find you like this old plane so much you want to stay with FS2004 until the patch arrives."

Ultimate Airliners: The Super 80 has been awarded the prestigious Classic Award by PC Pilot magazine. The March/April issue (Number 39) of PC Pilot has a four page in-depth review of the Super 80.

The MD80 provides an ideal platform for the concept of an interactive cockpit trainer within FS2004. This package excels as a procedural trainer and also is a delightful aircraft to fly with or without the use of the training tools. This is the first time we have seen an FS2004 airliner presented in this manner and it will undoubtedly set a benchmark for a new approach to aircraft simulation in FS2004.

Outstanding! No word better describes Super 80.

It’s a treasure in a world of airliner add-ons, as good as the very best out there that I have gotten some experience on. It’s quality, attention to detail, and performance come together to form a package that has to be seen to be believed.

In my closings, I normally don’t like strong opinion statements, but it is here that I must make an exception to my rule. Airliner fans (not to mention Super 80 fans) be advised – this is something that should not be missed."

FSX, Prepar3D, X-Plane – who won the battle for flightsim supremacy last year? It has been said that “there are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics”. With that in mind, let’s have a look at the 2014 Avsim Demographic Survey.
