What happened to the second Super 80 built? On 2 June 1980 N1002G was damaged in a landing accident at Yuma, Arizona. The aircraft took part in simulated hydraulic failure trials when the accident happened. None of the crew were injured and the aircraft was repairable after the accident. However, during removal of the aircraft from the side of the runway a crane used to lift the aircraft broke and fell across the fuselage. This rendered the aircraft uneconomical to repair.
